United for Progress Neighborhoods
Virginia LISC, along with our partners, is launching a program to help neighborhoods around our region understand and embrace the principles of comprehensive community development, to create a quality of life plan with the neighborhood and to put that plan into action.
This new vision is for supporting healthy neighborhood development in a sustainable manner. Our approach brings together strategies for development of both “Places and People” in targeted neighborhoods in Richmond and Petersburg. We have identified 5 goals that define the larger vision of successful communities:
- Expanding capital investment in housing an other real estate
- Building family income and wealth
- Stimulating local economic activity
- Improving resident’s access to quality education
- Developing healthy environments and lifestyles
In addition, we have identified 5 targeted areas in Richmond and Petersburg
